WACAN network.
November 2010 update: the information below is no longer up-to-date.
After 5 1/2 years, much of the hardware on the ArmadaleAP mast has now been
upgraded and replaced - check the
wafreenet wiki page
for more information.
August 2008 update: the SouthArmadale AP is no longer active, due to
the fact that factory unit where the is located now has a new owner.
Also, ArmadaleAP's uplink to Thornlie is no longer active, as the
wireless gear on the Thornlie mast has been removed at the house owner's request.
Overview
This page provides details on ArmadaleAP, a WAFreenet access point in the Armadale area.
Thanks to John from Rabor Smash Repairs
for allowing access to the mast on his workshop.
The location has a 35m mast on top of a ~8m factory unit, and
an AP, router and dedicated uplink to
Thornlie
have been installed at this location.
The location and height of the mast should allow CanningVale, Byford and other
areas south and west to link into the WAFreenet.

The nodedb ID of this location is
2093.
Another AP further south,
SouthArmadale,
recently went live, with an uplink to ArmadaleAP.
Stumbling (9 April 2005)
PeterH climbed the mast to see what other WAFreeNet APs were visible.
As expected, we were able to stumble thornlie and CanningNet, as well as numerous other
secured and unsecured private APs.

NetStumbler results
The raw NetStumbler file is available here.
Here are some photos taken from the top of the mast, to give some indication of the LOS available
