iiUsage iiNet/OzEmail/PowerUp/iHug/Grapevine Usage Analyser

iiUsage will fail to query data from iiNet's JSON feed and XML feed:
  • "invalid XML data" error when attempting to query the XML feed
  • "failed to parse JSON" when attempting to query the JSON feed
This is a known issue that is outside of my control. iiNet made changes to the JSON feed in 2022, and blocked iiUsage from accessing the XML feed in late 2022.

In early March 2023, iiNet confirmed that third-party tools will not be able to access the volume usage feeds anymore.

That means the end of iiUsage. Thanks for everyone's support over the years.


Background
The iiNet Usage Analyser (iiUsage) was originally designed and coded by Tim Hall.

In late 2003, Martin took Tim's source code, did a major clean-up of the code (including a rewrite of large parts of the code), and added some more functionality and enhancements.

Martin also enhanced it to support iiNet's new monthly anniversary quota calculations, which were implemented on 12 January 2004, replacing their rolling 30 day quotas, and has continued to add new features.

Features
The iiNet Usage Analyser is a Windows system tray application, with the following features:
  • supports iiNet, OzEmail, PowerUp, iHug and Grapevine iibroadband accounts
  • supports Westnet and Netspace users who are on the iiNet billing system
  • periodically retrieves usage information from volume usage page
  • displays daily usage for current month in a grid
  • displays daily usage for current month graphically
  • also displays:
    • peak and offpeak shaping status
    • total peak usage
    • total offpeak usage
    • total freezone usage
    • total uploads (plan-dependant)
    • average peak per day
    • average offpeak per day
    • peak quota remaining
    • offpeak quota remaining
    • average peak per day remaining
    • average offpeak per day remaining
    • current IP address
    • last connection time
    • monthly anniversary date
  • automatic (timed) and manual update
  • quick links to various iiNet/OzEmail/iHug webpages, including Network Status, Volume Usage, webmail, etc
  • back-fills historical data for previous month after a quota reset and when first installed
  • integration with samurize via XML data export
  • support for multiple iiNet/OzEmail/PowerUp/iHug/Grapevine user accounts
  • automatic checking for updated software versions
  • export to XML and CSV
  • historisation of usage data into a (SQLite) database
  • includes support for running iiUsage on Linux under Wine
