iiNet Usage Analyser
Screen Shots and Usage Information
Systray Functionality
iiUsage inserts an icon into the Windows systray.
Double-clicking on this systray icon will display the main iiUsage window.
Holding the mouse curser over this
systray icon shows your usage information as a popup tooltip.

Right-clicking on the systray icon will display a popup menu.

The two halves of the systray icon indicate the status of your peak and
offpeak usage, with the colours changing when your usage reaches
specific break points.
The colours are as follows:
< daily allowance | green |
> above daily allowance | yellow |
> quota | red |
Main Window
The main form of iiUsage displays the daily totals for your peak quota, offpeak quota,
and freezone downloads, as well as various other items of data.
|
main window - in double-width mode
(click for larger image)
|
Note that the mode of the main form can be toggled between "double-width mode", as shown
above, and "single-width mode", where the data grid is shown on a tab behind the summary tab.
Use the "<<" button near the top centre of the form to toggle between the two modes.
The main elements on this window are detailed below.
Note that hoving the cursor over the "Peak status" and "Offpeak status"
labels will display the start and end times for the peak and offpeak periods,
thus allowing you to confirm that iiUsage is interpeting the periods correctly.
For users on a naked dsl plan, an additional column with values showing
upload volume will be displayed.
Note that the upload data is already included in the peak and offpeak values,
so the total column is the sum of the peak, offpeak and freezone data.
If you've configured iiUsage to display the estimated shaping date, it will
highlight the time period that it believes you'll be shaped,
assuming you continue to consume your quota at the current daily average.
The colours of the progress bars will change when your usage reaches specific
break points of your quota, with the colours as follows:
< daily allowance | green |
> above daily allowance | yellow |
> quota | red |
Holding the mouse cursor over the refresh indicator icon that resides at the left end of the status bar
will display a tooltip with information about the next refresh, as shown below.

Configuration Dialog
The configuration dialog provides access to the vast majority of all
iiUsage's configurable settings.
Note that there's no point in setting the refresh rate to anything faster than
30 minutes, as the volume usage information on iiNet's website is only updated
once every half hour.

Note that OzEmail, iHug, Westnet, Netspace and Grapevine users need to specify their username as their full email address
(ie, username@ozemail.com.au for Westnet users).

Usage Graph
iiUsage can display the daily usage data in graphical format, as shown
in the screenshot below.

|
iiUsage daily graph (click for larger image)
|
Trend lines for quota average, quota target and uploads can be toggled on and off using
the checkboxes at the bottom left.
Note that upload data is only applicable to naked adsl plans,
or the new plans introduced in late 2010 that include uploads.
The quota average shows the average downloads (peak plus offpeak, but not including freezone),
calculated daily as a month-to-date average.
The quota target shows the daily downloads (peak plus offpeak) required to exactly consume your quota by the
next anniversary date.
A graph of monthly data is also available, as shown below.

|
New Version Checking
iiUsage can periodically check for new versions, or you can manually
get iiUsage to check for a new version.
If a new version is available, a dialog will be displayed with details of this
new version.

Usage Samples
Below are some screenshots of the iiUsage progress bars and system tray tooltip
for varying usage patterns.
The colours of the two halves of the systray icon mirror the colours of the
peak and offpeak progress bars.
Note that the screenshots below are from earlier versions of iiUsage.
Unshaped, below daily allowance:
This user is about three-quarters through their quota month, and is below quota on both
peak and offpeak downloads.
|
progress bars
|
Hovering the mouse cursor over the progress bars will display the difference between your
actual usage and your target usage as a tooltip
(where target usage is your quota distributed evenly over the entire month).
|
progress bars
|
Unshaped, above daily allowance:
This user is about two-thirds through their quota month, and is using more than
their daily peak allowance, and is on target to exceed their peak quota
before the end of their quota month.
The peak progress bar is a yellow warning colour, because they are using more than
their daily allowance (ie, peak quota / number of days in quota month).

Shaped to 72K on a limited bliink plan:
This user is very near the end of their quota month (it's the afternoon of their last day
before a quota reset), and they are shaped to 72K during peak time, having exceeded
their peak quota.
The peak progress bar is red colour, as the user has exceeded their peak quota.
