Modifications

Suspension: I've installed progressive rate lowered King springs (part number for front: KDRL-83, for rear: KDRL-50) and Gabriel GasRyder struts on the front and rear of my Pintara.
The new springs have lowered the front by about 35 mm, and the rear by about 15 mm (but the original rear springs had sagged so much, that when the car was loaded, it was virtually riding on the bump stops!).
I'm very happy with the springs, but I really want some struts with stiffer damping. I've also had to replace one of the front struts (warrenty replacement) after about 12 months, as it was starting to get noisy, and wasn't damping very well anymore.
The springs and struts were bought at Highway Auto Parts (Albany Hiway, Kelmscott, 08 9390 8282).
I've also replaced the rear sway bar bushes with urethane bushes.
Exhaust: rear bottom view of the exhaust A 2 1/4" exhaust has been installed from the cat convertor back, with a Mercury turbo muffler, and a 2 1/2" chrome tip.
The standard resonator (immediately after the cat convertor) was retained, with the new exhaust coming off the rear of this resonator.
I'm happy with the sound of the new exhaust - it's still fairly quiet, but sounds much better than the old exhaust (which had loose baffles rattling in the muffler...).
The exhaust work was done by Allan at The Old Muffler Shop (9 Eliot Rd, Armadale, 08 9399 3204).
Polyurethane Engine Mount: After replacing the lower rear engine mount too many times, I had a mount cast in polyurethane.
The polyurethane mount reduces engine movement, and should last many times longer than a rubber engine mount.
For more details on the custom polyurethane engine mount, see this page.
