Blurb made a printing error on my bookcover - the font I used from their list on Bookwright ended up with spaces in between several words. I scanned and sent them back the example which is clearly a tech error with the font . I asked for a refund but never heard back. One can never speak to a real person on Blurb which I find disconcerting. Does Blurb ever admit they are wrong ?

@Cheryl: One of the books I had printed by Blurb recently had a white end page instead of a black end page. I emailed Blurb to complain - and they pointed out that it was my error when I uploaded the book - but despite that, they still gave me a coupon to print a replacement book!

I have always found their support to be very helpful and responsive.

Maybe try emailing them again, with details of the issue you had, and I'm sure they will be happy to help you resolve the issue.

Cheryl emailed me to let me know that
"in the end Blurb were very good in their followup, gave me the credit on my Visa card for their font error and expedited my order so that it arrived quickly and in time for my presentation".

Your comparison is excellent, thank you! The only reason I'm stuck to Booksmart is that it allows for large books, up to 400 pages. I am open to other self publishers that offer more creative layouts, fonts, backgrounds, etc but can't find one that supports books as large as I need. Blurb's finished products are excellent and prices very good for quality of book, but now am ready to try something more creative but not more complicated to use. These books take forever to put together! Any ideas? Thanks again for sharing!

I had an order of 15 hardcover books, about 65 sheet-pages each. When they arrived, half of them (inside the shrink-wrap) had damaged corners. It was intriguing, since the shrink-wrap was not damaged - which indicated it was done prior to being wrapped. But it was only about half of them. And it was always the upper-right-hand corner. I contacted them and, after several communications where I trouble-shot their production process (Kepner-Tregoe, for anyone familiar), they determined what it was. (3,400 miles away; it was neat). Anyway, they reprinted the entire order, which I thought quite classy and something I was not expecting. I was very satisfied with their conduct and their accommodation.
