While on holidays near Rockingham last month, we visited Lake Walyungup
while looking for some geocaches in the area.
As it was summer, the lake is mostly dry, and it's an interesting location,
with the lake bed covered in gypsum (not salt, as many people think).
Apparently it was used as a motorcycle speedway in the 1950s, and now it is used by a local model aircraft club, and also for landsailing.
Lake Walyungup is an interesting place, and is definitely worth another visit for some more photos.
You can access the lake on foot via a personnel gate located near a car-park that is just off Safety Bay Road (google maps link).
