Construction techniques in India involve a lot more manual labour - one of the effects of being in a less-developed country where labour is cheap. Scaffolding on building sites typically consists of bamboo or wooden poles tied together, as shown in this photo, where wooden scaffolding adorns a multi-storey construction site.
