discussion, gear, and photography journal
DIY Photography has published a guest post by myself, which takes an introductory look at kite aerial photography (KAP).

The DIY Photography website is a great resource for information on DIY light modifiers, building a home studio, as well as various photography techniques and camera hacks.
The DIYP site is run by Udi Tirosh, a professional photographer. He emailed me some time ago, asking if I was interested in writing a guest post about KAP, so I jumped at the chance.

Head over to DIYP to read my Introduction to Kite Aerial Photography guest post.

Nice intro article. You write that "I think KAP is appealing because it provides the ability to achieve different and unusual camera angles that are not possible using ordinary photography techniques." Do you think that the increased popularity of drone photography will make KAP redundant? It meets the same criteria you mention without the same requirement for windy conditions.

@Richard: while drones / multi-rotors can achieve similar camera angles, KAP is also very much about the art and fun of flying a kite, making kites and KAP rigs, learning to read the wind, and so much more that you don't get from flying an electronic toy!
