discussion, gear, and photography journal
Here are some photos from another KAP session in Albany - this time at Emu Point beach.
We were at the beach in the early afternoon, and the seabreeze was blowing well, so I thought I would try flying my kite to capture some more aerial photos with the GoPro Hero2 camera.
Once the kite was airborne, and the camera rig was attached, I proceeded to let out more line, and captured some photos using the camera's built-in intervalometer.

However, as the kite went higher, the wind got stronger, causing the kite to dart around the sky, with the camera rig swinging wildly through the sky.

I immediately started to pull in line, to get the camera rig down to safety, and get the kite down, as it was threatening to dive-bomb some of the cars parked on the beach!

It was a struggle to pull in the kite, due to the increasing wind, and I was very thankful I was wearing gloves. Based on the timestamps of the photos taken by the GoPro Hero2 camera, the kite was only in the air for about 5 minutes, but it felt a lot longer than that!

Love the pics and the idea!!!! I am planning to use a Go Pro to capture the wide scenic Texas countryside this summer. Looks perfect for the job!
